Newcastle University required a modern logo for their NewRail research program called Safejoint. The project introduced the concept of “hybrid” structures, where two or more lightweight materials would be jointed into a new composite with a better life saving performance. The research reflected the high demand for reducing CO2 emissions worldwide and the new branding had to represent that aim and improve the communication between participating European universities.
I designed the logo in its clean san serif lines with a strong joining accent. Two primary colours, blue and yellow create a completely new secondary green, with better values and the important ecological message.
The design was extended with the potential website and UI proposal.
